The Breakfast Club
Whether it’s a stacked plate of pancakes, a classic full English or something sweet on the go, start the day off right with a brekkie in Darlo. It’s well worth the queue for the famous ricotta pancakes from bills (433 Liverpool St), or stay for a long brunch and grab a Bloody Mary or two in their buzzy corner cafe. Around the block, A Brewer’s Tale (112B Burton St) serves up breakfast classics, with a focus on fresh ingredients and roasts a good coffee too. Housed in a former laundromat building on Darlinghurst Road, Darbury (1/249 Darlinghurst Rd) does coffee and breakfast bits - don’t go past their classic Bacon and Egg roll. For some seriously good coffee, Little Bishop Espresso Bar (269 Victoria St) sources beans from all over the world and showcases a rotating roster of blends and single origin brews. Darlo Deli (277 Victoria St) does brekkie sandwiches for a quick meal on the run, or grab a mouthwatering pastry from the genius minds of Gelato Messina at Shadow Baking (243 Victoria St). For some Middle Eastern dishes, Chapter E (201 Darlinghurst Rd) does an all day breakfast featuring Shakshuka alongside classics like omelettes, bagels and sandwiches. Take a trip down memory lane and visit the hallowed halls of Tropicana Caffe (227 Victoria St), a Darlo institution that has been dishing up hearty breakfasts and classic Italian coffees since the 80’s.
